An Old Fashioned Birthday

by Theresa Conway-Hayes - The Stampin' Bookkeeper, June 27, 2020

This is a great masculine card. We’re going to use the big whiskey bottle, the glass, and the sentiment that says, “Cheers to You” and “Sending You an Old Fashioned Birthday” using the Whiskey Business cling stamp set from Stampin' Up!.

You can view an online demonstration at While you are there, please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. I'm working on getting 100 subscribers so that I can have a custom URL.

First, we’ll stamp the whiskey bottle and ink it up with Early Espresso onto a 3 ¼” x 5” layer. Take a scrap piece of Whisper White and stamp two glasses. Color the bottle and glasses with So Saffron alcohol markers. We’ll do some shading using the light and dark markers. Then we’ll use the wink of stella to help move the Early Espresso ink around to give the whiskey a little deeper hue. Could also use some dark Crumb Cake or Mango Melody to bring a golden color to the whiskey. This is a fun opportunity to experiment with color.

Next, we’ll fussy cut out the whiskey tumblers. I’ve recently tried to do my fussy cutting with a larger pair of scissors, and it seems to work a little better for me. Use a light Gray Granite marker to shade some grounding under the bottle and glasses so that they don’t look like they are floating in the air.

Stamp “Sending You an Old Fashioned Birthday Card” to the bottom right corner with Early Espresso ink. Adhere one glass with double-sided tape and pop the other one up on a dimension. Mount your layer to an Early Espresso background layer. Then mount those layers onto a Crumb Cake card base.

Embellish with Gilded Gems.

On the inside Whisper White layer, stamp a whiskey bottle and or some glasses at the bottom right corner. You can leave as a black image or color if desired.
